VisaSpecs publishes document photo specifications for general information. Every card cites its issuing authority and the date it was last checked — this page explains what that citation does and doesn’t guarantee.

A citation, not a decision

The spec card is a well-sourced pointer; the rule itself lives on the authority’s page. Published specs change without notice, portals enforce requirements that never make it onto the printed checklist — China’s upload window and the UK’s file-size floor both work this way — and officers apply judgement to edge cases (religious headwear, infant photos, medical exemptions) that no table captures. For anything with a deadline, confirm on the linked official page. It wins every disagreement.

What a verify flag means

Where published detail is thin or inconsistent between channels, the card is flagged verify with authority rather than padded with a number we couldn’t confirm. The flag is the honest state of the requirement — treat it as “the authority hasn’t published this clearly”, not as a missing row we’ll eventually fill.

Stamps go stale

The verified date on each card is when we last re-read the source, not when the rule last changed. A spec can move the day after its stamp. If you’re reading a card long after its stamped month — or an authority page that disagrees with ours — trust the authority and tell us so the next review catches up.
