VisaSpecs publishes document photo specifications for general informational purposes. The whole site is built around sources and verification dates — this page explains what that does and doesn’t guarantee.

Not the authority

The issuing authority — the State Department, GOV.UK, Passport Seva, a consulate, a portal — always has the final word. Published specs change, portals enforce rules that never make it onto checklists, and officers apply judgement on edge cases (religious headwear, infant photos, medical exceptions) that no spec sheet fully captures. A spec card here is a well-sourced starting point, not a guarantee of acceptance — for anything with a deadline, confirm on the linked official page.

Honest gaps, on purpose

Where published detail is thin or inconsistent between channels, the card is flagged verify with authority instead of presenting a number we can’t confirm. That flag is a deliberate design choice: a reference that admits its gaps is more useful than one that hides them. Verification stamps show when each spec was last checked — if you’re reading long after the stamped date, treat the figures as stale and re-verify.

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, VisaSpecs and its maintainers are not liable for losses arising from use of the site — including rejected applications, missed deadlines or re-shoot costs. VisaSpecs is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government, passport office, consulate, visa service or standards body.
