VisaSpecs is a reference site, not a photo tool. It answers one question — “what are the exact requirements for this document’s photo?” — with spec cards that name their issuing authority and carry a last-verified date.

Why a reference site

The passport-photo corners of the web are full of numbers repeated from other pages repeating other pages — and specs drift. India’s passport photo changed on 1 September 2025; China’s online portal enforces a different shape than its paper checklist; the UK portal rejects files that are too small. VisaSpecs exists to be the layer where the numbers are kept honest: every entry cites the authority that owns it, is stamped with the date it was last checked, and is flagged verify with authority where published detail is genuinely thin rather than padded with a guessed figure.

Where the numbers come from

The dataset is hand-compiled from the issuing authorities themselves — the U.S. State Department, GOV.UK, Passport Seva, China’s COVA portal, IRCC, the Australian Passport Office, EU consulate guidance and ICAO Doc 9303 — and cross-checked against the verified spec data shared with the sibling tools on this domain. Where a portal and a printed rule disagree, the card says which is enforced where. There is no scraped bulk data and no third-party “spec API” — that’s the point.

What this site is — and isn’t

It’s a starting point for getting requirements right, maintained with real sources and honest gaps. It is not the authority, not legal advice, and not a photo service — we never touch your photo because there’s no photo here to touch. For a live application the linked official page always wins.

Who maintains it

VisaSpecs is maintained by a small independent team that builds focused utility and reference sites. Spec corrections are our favorite emails — if a number moved, tell us with the authority’s page and it goes into the next dataset review.
